Cherries and Bananas - Women Playing the Field

Matt:  Is it just me or does it seem like women are becoming more and more interested in being like men when it comes to romance and relationships?  Let me preface this by saying that I am not talking about all women.  There are still ladies out there that are looking for the perfect man.  I am talking about women in the 18-25 year old range.  It used to be the men that were afraid of long term commitment and they just wanted to play the field.  Now, it seems more and more women are not looking for anything serious.  They are going out with a guy for a month or two, get bored and then move on.  I have many women friend and, although they talk about finding Mr. Right, it seems that they are impatient and only give a guy a couple of months before losing interest.  And the cheating!  Men used to be labeled as the primary cheaters in a relationship, but more and more women are cheating.  I read somewhere that now it is believed that women cheat almost as much as men.  In marriages, a woman is just as likely to cheat as the guy.  WOW! 

There is an upside for all of us guys though.  When it is last call at the bars, it sure is becoming easier and easier to find a woman to have some fun with.  And it is a good bet that there will be “No Strings Attached.”  The term “Fuck Buddy” is a relative new term and it reflects society.  Promiscuity is back!  ;)  Look at the internet and all the “Amateur Porn” on it.  Look at the women who send us pics to post on our blog!  This never would have happened 20 years ago. 

I can understand women wanting to have their fun – I was once like that – but the nice thing was that it seemed the women always used to be the serious ones and they would talk a guy into settling down using reason.  If women are becoming more like men, then the human race is doomed!  Marriage is going to slowly slip away and we are all going to become a society of sex-crazed people.  That scares me.  Sure, I love Sex and Women, but in moderation.  Marriage, families, kids – those are the backbone of a society and I see it all slipping away.

I think men are missing the point here when it comes to women.  We are not becoming more like men, we are just adapting to life in the 21st century.

In this day and age, women have been placed in a situation where we have to earn a living as well.  The days of having just one breadwinner in the family are well gone.  And as you know, women are perfectionists.  So if we have to work, we want to be good at what we do and are therefore concentrating on our careers.  And we don’t want the stress of having a long term relationship to disrupt our career.  We want to be able to concentrate on getting our career well under way before settling down. 

But we also have needs and want to have fun.  We need sex as much as guys do.  Women are not good at one night stands.  We need to have a connection with the guy/s we sleep with but we are unable to commit to a long term relationship (no strings attached).  Therefore the term fuck buddy is well suited.

It is not about women not wanting marriage, family and kids, but we have to postpone settling down for a few years.  Back in my day, it was not unusual to get married in your early twenties, or even late teens.  But now it is unusual to get married before your late twenties or even thirties.  We are doing the whole marriage thing much later in life.

And I suppose this is making us a little pickier when it comes to choosing Mr. Right.  So yeah, you may have a better chance of going home with us after last call at the bar, but you also have less chance of making it to the front of the alter if you don’t up your game. 

And the whole cheating thing - It is not a matter of men cheating more than women or the other way around – it takes one of each to cheat so we are equally guilty and always have been.

Women are also learning to have some fun with their sexuality.  We are learning that we do not need to be ashamed of our bodies and that we are beautiful and desirous.  And the whole amateur porn thing and us sending you half naked picks – Quite honestly I don’t see any harm in it.  It shows that we feel more confident about ourselves.  You guys wouldn’t think twice about sending us pictures of your junk so why should we.
